NZDA HUNTS Course
Hunter National Training Scheme (HUNTS)
The Whanganui Branch NZDA HUNTS course is designed to help novice and partially experienced hunters develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for safe and responsible hunting.
What the course covers
- Bushcraft and survival: Essential outdoor skills and knowledge.
- Firearms and range training: Safe firearm handling and practical range experience.
- Navigation: Developing confidence in navigating the bush.
- Equipment and preparation: Understanding essential hunting equipment and planning.
- Food and camping: Outdoor cooking, food preparation and overnight skills.
- River crossings: Learning safe techniques for crossing waterways.
- Practical hunting: An overnight hunt to apply the skills learned throughout the course.
Who is it for?
The course is suitable for new hunters and those with some experience who want to build their skills and confidence in a supportive, structured learning environment.
The course is available to NZDA members.
